Why do we need a school?

For too long for too many Lambeth parents and children finding a secondary school has been a nightmare.

Lambeth's new pupil numbers report concludes that they need an extra 330 places for our children right now. They predict that they will need double these spaces by 2015.

“This has been the worst year of our lives without a doubt,” said parent Catherine A, last summer.

“There’s been no choice for us. Of course you can choose to apply to any school but you don’t get offered a place.

You just end up putting your child through a lot of unnecessary stress.”

“From the beginning of Year 6 the kids are under a lot of stress,” said parent Giovanna M.

“It’s a really bad year for them. The whole process is like a gamble.

When the refusals come, it’s a bad reality crash.

You begin to wonder if you’ll ever get a place.”
